In the use of Premiere Pro, a large number of audio and video as well as cache files will be generated. May I ask what is the overall storage solution for Premiere Pro?

Some high level considerations:

  • You want the file structure for each project to be something that can be maintained for the length of the project.
  • The storage media for source footage must meet or exceeded the sustained data transfer required for playing a single stream of it, or the total number of streams of source footage to be playing at any one time.
  • You need a back up strategy that minimizes downtime.

I believe Premiere Pro stores project metadata and file information in the project files (.prproj), a proprietary format, without a database to access or manage them.

Hopefully, someone with the Premiere Pro team will see your post and provide more details.
