When editing, after making a cut, Premiere automatically adds 1 frame so I need to re-do the cut

I've been having this issue for about 3 weeks now and it's been incredibly frustrating: When I make a cut at a specific frame, about half the time, Premiere automatically moves that cut up one frame. So now that new cut has 1 frame of the last scene still on it. Meaning I have to go back and re-do the cut. 

 

I can't figure out what the issue is. 

 

I'm running v23.4, Windows 11 (latest version) with 80 megs of ram. 

 

Any ideas what could be the issue?

Hola, estás trabajando con código de tiempo o milisegundos, si es el segundo (milisegundos) debes tener en cuenta que el video trabaja enrames y esta última opción se usa sobre todo para trabajar audio.

I'm just using whatever Premiere default is. Never even thought about that. But, it worked perfectly up until a couple weeks ago.

Hi @KLC1,

Thanks for the message. What is your method, exactly? Is this only on an Out Point? If you are using the playhead to guide a cut at the Out  point, you have to allow for the full length of the frame represented by the playhead and move back one frame, then mark and Out. Could that be your issue? Zoom way in on the playhead and you'll see that it is not a "needle" but a "needle with a tail on it." If you snap the playhead to the edit point, you'll see that the tail extends into the first frame of the adjoining clip. If you cut there, you're going to include the first frame of that incoming clip. If that is the case, it is true on all NLE systems and something we all come into contact with as beginners. Let me know if that is the case and if it makes sense to you. If that is not the case, also let me know and I'll take a closer look.

    Hi Kevin, 

    When I edit, I use the left/right arrow buttons on my keyboard to find the spot I want to cut. Then I use the Up Arrow key (Razor shortcut) to cut at that spot. I'm sure you're way more techincal then me, so I hope that makes sense 🙂

    Hi @KLC1,

    Thanks for the added info. I think you have a different situation going on. I usually use Ctrl (Windows) or CMD + K to make the cut. Maybe you created a custom keyboard shortcut for a feature called "Add Edit." Could that be? Try the standard Add Edit command and see if it works better. Let me know.
