Question

When GoPro footage is sped up 10% it gets really skippy

Check out this video: GOPR0874 Cut - YouTube

It was shot on a GoPro at 2.7k @ 30fpv. When played at normal speed it's silky smooth. When I apply any speed-up modification to the video it clearly "jumps" every 1s or so. I assume this has everything to do with frame rate and frames being dropped. Is there some math or equation to apply to determine what speed up/down can be used with no skipping?

Hi CorySnyder,

Removing frames is the nature of the beast. Most people smooth out fast motion "choppiness" with Motion Blur, with products like this: http://revisionfx.com/products/rsmb/

You can also try After Effects motion blur if you have it.

Thanks,

Kevin
