When I export the video I am editing, it ends up being way brighter than what it was originally. How do I fix this?

I figured it out. All I had to do was go to the clips and click Modify, then color settings, then go to Override Media Color Space and choose Rec 709. I think it had something to do with the phone that the footage was filmed on.

First, how are you determining how bright it is? By watching in a player, or re-imported into Premiere? And on what OS ... Mac or PC?

Next, what color management controls have you set things to? Color management is absolutely required these days ... it’s simply the reality.  There are various formats of HDR ... high dynamic range ... with different dynamic ranges (brightness) and color spaces ... the hues and total color volume of the image. And of course, there is the old standby of Rec.709/SDR video.

So we’d need to know what your media is, how you’ve set the color management options in the Lumetri panel’s Settings tab ... the tab named Settings.

And ... how you are viewing it after the export, either in Premiere or on another player.

I do not recommend QuickTime player, especially on Macs, as unless you have Reference modes available on your Mac (most don’t have them) ... QuickTime player will not use the correct display transform for Rec.709/SDR video. A long standing issue with no fix sadly.

    Everyone's mileage always varies ...
