When I use proxy files, the image color changes

When the track is playing, the contrast increases, but during a pause, it returns to normal. Why is that?

Check the wrench menu under the wrench in the Program monitor and check High Quality Playback. See if that fixes it. But beware this takes more system resources.

Scott is probably correct, it’s your Playback Monitor settings that is what needs adjusting. Most users seem unaware of the existence of the options in playback, which are there for making timeilnes play easier with systems that are struggling between media format and the effects used on a sequence.

It worked! I rarely use a proxy, so I wasn't aware of this issue. In normal mode, nothing happens—it just starts to slow down. Does this feature require 32 gigabytes of video memory?

No, not even close, I get great performance with GoPro Cineform and ProRes Proxy formats. I’ve switched now to ProRes for all proxies. They work great and I used to do that with a GTX-1070.

The question’s been answered, but what format did you create the proxies in? If h.264 or 5 and not one of the above, then that is likely your issue.

BTW: I makes sense what Scott said, but I’ve never found PP to work any better, and usually worse if I don’t have “Full” and High Quality Playback on. It works quite well in AE, but for me, not in Premiere.
