There was a mask here. Where is it now?

You can also start a mask with selecting Opacity (or any other effect) first.

The edges of the mask appear when I press the Button Editor key and disappear immediately. My issue has not been resolved!!!

Please do go and read the entire bit about the new masking system in the link Ann gave. It is very different, BUT ... it is also far more capable than before.

However, we all do need to learn how to use it ... including things like when you first make a mask, simply right-clicking it and setting it as Opacity if that is all you need.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...
