Question

Where to buy tall Chyron font as in TV texts (Lower thirds)?

Hi,

Any idea where to buy a really simple, tall, ordinary chyron font that is suitable for Lower third texts (I don't want to squash a helvetica, or something like that)?

I'm also interested in similar fonts for movie credits.

I searched Adobe Fonts, and a few other places, but no luck so far...

Thank you in advance!

P.S. I tried posting this in the Illustrator forum, but perhaps this is more relevant...

Thank you again, I'll take a look at dafontfree.net -- I have to admit I'm a bit cautious about free font sites, partly because of viruses/spyware, partly because of Licensing (I'd like a totally fool-proof commercial license like Adobe's).

Match font in Ps.

Regarding what I meant by a "squashed" Helvetica:

CNN, for instance, uses a regular Helvetica-style font for their Lower thirds, so they just make it taller in Illustrator (which imo doesn't look good). I'm looking for a 'natural born' tall font...

Thank you very much again, Ann Bens, I didn't know the Match font feature, so that's very helpful!

But the weird thing is that no fonts really look like the 'western' one (and I think that's weird because I would assume lots of film makers would find that useful).

Most tall fonts are unfortunately also skinny. I'd wish there were an 'Impact' kind of font, only taller.

I think I'll contact some of the font companies, but thank you again!

Thank you both -- I've tried Typekit and Google fonts without any luck.

I did see Agency FB, and I agree it's close, but not quite.

I actually look for TWO fonts; one should be a tall neutral Chyron; the other one should be a classic movie-poster / movie-credits font like this:

Try and see if anything matches on fonts.google.com or Adobe Typekit

There are a lot of fonts suited for lower thirds.

Agency FB font?

"Have you tried TypeKit?"

Thank you, yes, but the closest was Abolition (which really isn't close).

So, it's kind of peculiar IMO -- I would assume that lots of people need something like that...
