Which laptop specs are best for running Adobe Premiere Pro smoothly?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to buy a new laptop primarily for video editing, and I’ll be using Adobe Premiere Pro quite heavily — mostly for 1080p and some 4K editing, with basic color grading and effects.

I want to make sure the laptop I choose can run Premiere Pro smoothly without constant lag or crashes. I’ve seen a lot of mixed advice online, so I’m turning to the Adobe community for some real-world feedback.

Could you please share:

What minimum and recommended specs I should look for?
Does GPU matter more than CPU for video editing?
Is 16GB RAM enough, or should I aim for 32GB?
Any specific models or brands you recommend?
Any known issues with running Premiere Pro on laptops?

Any tips or personal experiences would be super helpful before I make the purchase.

Jesus Rameriz often starts his videos on The Photoshop Training Channel talking about the MSI Creator A16 Ai+ Laptop that he uses. He says it runs all of the CC apps very nicely, but he is obviously sponsored by MSI. He is one person that I would trust not to BS though.

A quick look round reveals opinions that it is great for gaming, the best laptop for architects, and has 'next level' performance. I would say it is pretty solid, but I would take Ged's advice and ask on the Premier Pro Hardware forum first.

I was going to say that if money was no object, have a look what Puget Systems is offering for mobile NLE, but I got a bit of a surprise. They only have one laptop, but it appears to have better spec than the MSI and is about the same cost! That will be the baseline cost though. If you up the configeration that cost is going to be waaaaaay more.
