Hey,

I am currently using Adobe Premiere Pro on my MacBook Air, and I am experiencing performance issues during video editing. I would appreciate your guidance on the most suitable version of Premiere Pro for my system.

Here are the specifications of my MacBook Air:

  • Model: MacBook Air Retina 13-inch, 2018
  • Operating System: MacOS Monterey version 12.1
  • Processor: 1.6GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
  • Memory: 16GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
  • Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 617 1536 MB

I am currently using Adobe Premiere Pro version 24.0, and the rendering and preview are notably slow, with occasional hiccups during editing. Considering the hardware limitations of my MacBook Air, could you kindly advise on whether there's an older version of Premiere Pro that might be more optimized for smoother performance on my system?

Thank you!

Hello @Marcos27200174z0pz,

Thanks for writing in. Unfortunately, other than v.23, older versions are no longer available. Also, your GPU doesn't meet system requirements for either available version. It's been set at 2GB VRAM for quite awhile now. You can work around some of the hardware limitations by either transcoding or using proxies. Have you tried doing those things yet? An adjustment in your workflow could put off purchasing new hardware for a short while. That said, you probably do need to look at a hardware upgrade to work with 4K video, etc., in the near future. I hope the advice helps.

Thanks,
Kevin
