Why can't I assign a custom keyboard shortcut to Command + J?

@SwindlerCave  Thanks for trying that out on your end! What you made me realize is that it seems the 'panel specific' shorcuts WILL work with CMD+J but the 'application wide' shorcuts WON'T.

I really want to be able to use CMD+J in the way I described above, but the only way that I've been able to is via Keyboard Maestro. I assign "go to previous edit point" to CMD + H in Premiere, then assign CMD + J to trigger CMD + H when using Premiere. So I have a workaround but I'd still like to know why I can't assign it directly in Premiere.

I've made several custom shortcuts successfully, but I can confirm: I am not able to assign "Go to Previous Edit Point" to Ctrl-J either.  It looks like it applied, and is still there when I re-open the Keyboard Shortcuts editor.  But it doesn't execute the assigned command (even if I explicitly un-assign the original - Up - as well).

I tried assigning it to "Show Audio Time Units" (a command I already have a custom shortcut for) and it works fine.  So that rules out a third-party program (I run AutoHotKey) interfering or Premiere Pro secretly ignoring Ctrl-J for some reason.

I also tried mapping "Go to Previous Edit Point" to a completely unused combo (Ctrl-F11 in my case) and it works fine, so that rules out Premiere Pro secretly preventing that command from being used by another hotkey.

I'm not referring to the default shortcuts. I'm talking about going into the keyboard shortcuts window and mapping my own custom action to CMD + J... ie: assigning "go to previous edit point" to that CMD + J.

Com/ctrl+J works but not for go to previous edit point which is UP.

Which version are you using.

I've tried just about everything. Booting in safe mode to help rule out a conflicting hotkey—still didn't work. I tried assigning other commands to Cmd + J and nothing works. I tried assigning Cmd + J in other apps, and they work just fine. I Just can't get it to work in Premiere Pro....

The most I could find is that Command + J is no longer listed as a default shortcut, but at one time it used to be the shortcut for the 'title templates' window... according to this website: https://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/create-and-share-title-templates-in-premiere-pro/

Is this just a bug? Or a conflict I'm not seeing? Or?

It won't work no matter what I assign to it. But ideally I'm trying to assign "go to previous edit point".

What is the shortcut suppose to do?
