Question

why do editing operations (e.g. lift, extract, top, tail) NOW inadvertently remove markers in the timeline?

using editing operations on the sequence timeline containing markers will now delete those markers. it didn’t use to be like this.

but now, for example, if you mark clip (x) and the clip’s first frame also has a timeline marker, the marker will get deleted. if you do a tail ripple edit on the same type of clip with a timeline marker, the marker will also get deleted.

    It’s the main reason I’ve stopped using markers for feedback, too unpredictable. I use captions now.

    @brbrbrbrbrbr,

    See this post for an explanation of the change Neil refers to:

    Here’s a link to one of the help pages regarding markers. I did not look to see if it addresses the behavior you are asking about. If you see it, let us know where.

    Yea, this behavior was changed … which was a heavily requested one by users, I would note.

    It’s great for some, and for others, clearly like you, it’s a royal pain. I would highly recommend going to Premiere’s Help file listed in the Help menu, and looking up markers to read about the new behavior.

    Most situations can be accommodated with different user practices such as marker types. But probably not all.
