Question

Why do I have 3 timelines? I have 2 videos & 1 still. They were all filmed on same device. What's up?

I am new to Adobe Premeire Pro CC.  (I have 2017 version.) I am having issues with putting video & still pictures into my video and having them look normal. I started by placing my still picture, then when I imported my video and placed it in the timeline, the video was an extreme close-up. It didn't look that way in the Program Panel when I ran my cursor over it to view it so I had the right video. If I select fit to frame, then my still image has black bands on the sides. Is there something I need to do as far as formatting before I start my sequence? I did find when I dragged the video down to the New Item icon, it added my video, however it created a 2nd timeline & I can't merge the two together.  I actually started a new project and inserted the video to the sequence first, the video came through with the expected view. Very confused.

    Hi Stacy,

if you do not know the exact dimensions of your video, the right way to start is as you did; for more information open menu -> sequence -> sequence settings.

Because Stills have other aspect ratio, it is normal, that you might see black areas.

What to do: open menu -> effect controls and change -> scale. (If you click on -> motion you also will get a blue rectangle with the dimensions of your still image)

And to get things out of a timeline to another, just do "copy/paste"...
