Question

Why does th eauto tracking on a mask no longer work and then when i stop it and go back a nd adjust the mask on frames and then continue, it completely messes up the mask on the previous portions of the video.

I am trying to blur faces in a video, i did this 4 months ago and it was much different because of this new update. I have the mask on and then I press auto track and watch it and then stop it when the mask goes off and readjust the mask to the face and track forward by one frame until it realigns and then press auto track again and repeat until the clip is done. I then go back to rewatch the clip and the mask at the beginning of the video is completely off. I have searched everywhere for why this is not working when I did this 4 months ago and this was working fine.

As R Neal mentions, Masking has been updated with 26.0 that differs in some areas compared to previous Masking. Apologies for any confusion and we appreciate any feedback.

FYI, you can find a bit more info on Clip vs. Frame modes here: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere/desktop/add-video-effects/create-masks-and-composites/adjust-masks-at-the-clip-or-frame-level.html

    Hope this helps.

The 26.x version has a massively upgraded masking operation, but the new changes require learning to use them.

The masking is now auto-tracking or manual, and you need to set that in the Program monitor ... between the option for frame or clip. Clip masking means it tracks automatically and you can’t manually adjust.

To adjust, you need to set the mask option in the Program monitor to frame.

    Everyone's mileage always varies ...
