Why doesn't Premiere save the marks I made in clips?

Part of my workflow is setting marks in my raw clips, so I can come in during my 2nd pass and cut accordingly. Why does Premiere randomly choose to not save them? I've lost a few hours of work from this.

Others have reported losing markers as well - seems to be a random, intermittent bug. As for where they're stored, it depends on whether the media container of your source files (mp4, mov, etc..) support metadata tagging and your Premiere preference setting (Preferences -> Media -> Write clip markers to XMP). For example, with MP4 files Premiere will store the markers in the source media if 'Write clip markers to XMP' is enabled.

Markers, sorry for the confusion. In & Out marks remain.
