Question

Why is my transcription feature not working?

I have been a Premiere Pro user for over 10 years and have never had to write a discussion post.. I am trying to generate transcribed captions through in and out points on my vertical video timeline, but each time I do this, this systems processing immediately stops.

Here is what I’m doing in my Captions & Graphics workspace:

In & out points on the timeline are set > Clicked the 3 dots above “transcribe” > Clicked “Generate Static Transcript” > Clicked “Transcription Preferences” > I select audio track 1 only (the only track I need) > Checked the box marked “transcribe in and out point only”.

The system begins to load and process my request, but then stops and nothing happens..

I have logged out of my Creative Cloud account, reset my Premiere Pro app, and reset my laptop multiple times, but I am still facing this issue of not having the transcription and captioning move forward. My internet connection is also not the issue.

I am using version 26.30 (build 93)

@Jeffrey34123879a4r2,

This is similar to a bug some users are experiencing. Most often it ends with “No dialogue found.” I do not experience it.

Do you still have version 25 installed? If you, just give it a try to see if it works there. Let us know and we can troubleshoot from there.

There may be a fix in the Beta version; you can install it alongside the release versions to test.

A workaround for some users was to roll back to version 26.0.1.

Hi Stan,

I reinstalled version 26.0.1 like you recommended and was able to proceed with transcribing successfully. There most likely is a bug issue with the latest update of Adobe Premiere when it comes to transcribing for captions.

I appreciate the help.

HI Jeffrey,

Hi,

Sorry you're running into this.

Could you let us know which version of Premiere Pro you're using (Help > About Premiere Pro) and whether you're on Windows or macOS?

A few other questions that will help narrow this down:

  • Does this happen only in this project, or also in a brand-new project with a short test clip?

  • If you leave "Transcribe in and out point only" unchecked and transcribe the entire clip, does the transcription complete successfully?

  • When the processing stops, do you see an error message, or does the progress simply stop and disappear?

Those details will help determine whether this is a project-specific issue, an issue with the In/Out transcription option, or something related to the version of Premiere Pro you're running. @Stan Jones may be able to help. I hope we assist you.

Thanks!
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your quick reply. I stated in my question that I’m using version 26.30 (build 93).

I am using the program on a Windows 11 Dell laptop

I actually tried this in an older project and had the same occurrence. I also tried transcribing the entire timeline focused on audio track 1 and still had no luck.

I don’t see any error messages when the processing stops. The system acts like nothing happened.

Hi Jeffrey,
Sorry for the continued headaches.
@Stan Jones - Any idea what’s going on here?

Thanks,
