Why so slow?

I'm doing a 2-hour video, composed of a dozen clips. Just opening Premier to work on it is agonizingly slow. My computer isn't fast, a Mac Mini, with only 8 GB of RAM, but Final Cut on my older iMac w/16 Gb would ahve handled this project easily. Is Premier just slow or is RAM the problem? This program is unusable in its present configuration. I'm not a serious videographer-- this video is  just a record of a play put on by our local theatre group. I do this about once a month. Maybe I should use another program?

What are the exact hardware specs of your Mac Mini? And is it a 2018 model or is it a 2014 model?

If it's a 2018 model, the insufficient amount of RAM is the biggest problem, as the integrated Intel UHD Graphics eats up more than 1 GB of that RAM, leaving less than 7 GB of system RAM available for Premiere Pro. And Adobe prefers that you have more than 8 GB of free, unused RAM (16 GB or more recommended).

But if it's really a 2014 model, the CPU is the problem: None of the CPUs that were available in the 2014 model had more than two cores and four threads.
