Hi,

I made an AE comp with a 4k files using a 1280x720p proxy file,  I've put that comp in Premiere and made some audio adjustment, when I'll render it out using PP or AME, will it render it out using the proxy files or the original files ?

In general, with the 'new' proxy-on-ingest feature, you can't export from the proxy media ... which is actually something that a lot of people would like an option to do for certain uses.

You of course were throwing in the AE comp curveball, so ... it's good to test.

So, now you have proof positive!

The think is that I don't want to export in 4k I wanna export in 1920x1080, I'm just a tiny bit concerned about whether or not PP is smart enough to use the 4k original footage rather than the proxies (which have less details).

So the export windows pop up is saying what I told my project to be which is : 1920x1080p.

The AE comp I throw in PP is 1920x1080 so obviously PP made a 1920x1080 project.

I made one tiny rendering with the proxy set to ON and an other set to OFF, it does not seem to make a difference on the final result quality image which would lead to make me think PP is smart enough to indeed not use the proxy, but I just wanted to be sure

from @Neil "you can't export from the proxy media"

sure you can, just forcefully rip out the media drive and click offline, it will export proxy only, lol.

btw, you don't have to do the rip part.

The fastest way I can think of for you to find this out, is ... to set an in/out on the sequence maybe 20 seconds apart, and ... export. Does the export dialog pop up assuming 4k? And after exporting at 4k, how's the resolution and general quality look?

I couldn't type this response in the time it would have taken to test this. I think it will export assuming 4k. But ... you can know that in a couple minutes. One of the standard things to do to puzzle out a workflow is to simply ... test it. In short bits. Then longer bits ... then full length.
