Windows 10 - Adobe Premiere Pro 2017.1 crashes on startup

About 3 - 5 seconds after launch of Premiere Pro CC 2017.1 it'll crash. At the start screen.

Got Windows 10 Creators Update, fully updated, i7 CPU, 32 GB RAM, 1TB Crucial SSD, 4 TB WD HDD, Nvidia GForce 960 and Premiere Pro has never failed before.

I googled and found and followed a few suggestions, like "latest Nvidia drivers", "Turn off on board intel graphics", "Update Intel graphics even if it's disabled", "Update SSD Firmware and driver", "Uninstall and install PP",  "Uninstall and use CC Cleaner tool", "Uninstall PP and manually clean registry". To no avail.

I've tried both the Microsoft and Nvidia drivers, even tried to uninstall the Nvidia drivers and run the Intel HD 4600 instead, but got the same error.

I'm currently running out of ideas. Reinstalling Windows is not a very good option, as we're replacing our PCs in two months, so I'd very much appreciate any new ideas.

Thanks in advance,

Hasse

"The last crash fix instructions you will ever need" by: broken media productions

check your premiere crash report with Windows's event viewer- Windows Logs > Application.

Photoshop Elements Editor Help | How to Find Crash Logs on Windows (yes, i know it says photoshop, same concept)

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements-editor/using/find-crashlogs.html

Premiere Pro self crash log: FAQ: How to find Premiere Pro crash logs on Windows?

Unhide hidden folders by following these instructions: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files

Navigate to the following folder to collect the crash log

OS:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\11.0\logs

[NOTE: <username> is your Windows user name]

what are your power options set to? hd set to sleep? anything overheating? run passmark95 on components for hardware failures and overheating. do you see your ram being used up from a memory leak? what media, plugins, anything else running in the background?

some other things to check:

1. change previews to 1/4

2. try renderer software render only or update video driver

3. try changing preferences from performance to memory.

4. change memory allocation to 80% of RAM for premiere

5. shrink PNG image sequences in photoshop to sequence size before importing into premiere

6. render previews

7. delete your preferences  ALT+SHIFT held down (on Windows), or OPT+SHIFT mac while reopening premiere.

8. remove In and Out marks set before dragging footage onto timeline

9. voiding using the Morph Cut transition

10. close Chrome and all its services

11. update gfx drivers

12. try removing avg antivirus

13. remove all cross-dissolves

14. clear media cache folder

15. import using only media browser

16. check for red giant plugins that need updating

17. import sequence into new sequence might be corrupt

18. Disconnect any third party hardware like monitors (these sometimes crash as dual monitor setups)

19.in you BIOS, have AMD Turbo Core fully DISABLED

20. remove appnap program

21. Create a new user account on your computer (an Administrator account) and check if you encounter the same issue.

22. disable h.264 acceleration

23. rename media folder

24. reset to color workspace

25. update bios for memory leaks

26. run passmark95 to test overheating

27. set audio hardware to none or update audio drivers

28. remove sonic suite 2

x. as last resort, use adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool

OK, so the Realtek driver didn't actually do anything useful. The new driver got into a loop trying to upgrade, so I ended up uninstalling the Realtek HD Audio, entirely. Possibly the Nvidia HD Audio does the same thing and created a conflict.

Thanks for the tip. Audio drivers wasn't on my map, really. The log should've been the obvious starting point.
