Working with MXF files in Premiere Pro

Hi, I was given footage in RAW MXF files and I am trying to work with them in Premiere Pro - and I have never worked with RAW files before. When I import them into premiere the video really lags behind the audio and is super glitchy. I have a 2019 Macbook Pro with 64GB RAM, is it something to do with my computer? I will only be using them on social media so trying to figure out the best way to edit if it won't stop lagging, if exported to a MP4 can we still color correct the footage after I edit what I like? and first would there be a way to export these files into a MP4 format? HELP!

What camera produced those files? And what is the data for them ... such as 4k framesize, or 10-bit, or framerate, all of that? And are they long-GOP?

 

Downloading and installing the free utility applet MediaInfo can help. After installation, drag/drop a file onto MediaInfo's icon on your desktop. When it opens, select the Tree view, and do a screen grab. Then drag/drop that into the text reply area here.

Hi NickiDoane,

That must be frustrating. Please try creating proxies for your source files (Here's how: https://adobe.ly/3z7pZj7). You can still use Lumetri Color to color grade your footage. The effects (like Lumetri Color for color grading footage) on your project will still be applied to the source media, so rendering the preview might be time-consuming. Hope this helps!
