Question

Workspace is changing automatically after reopening a file

Everytime I am setting up the workspace as per my convenience, it's changing immediately after closing a file. I tried to save a new layout and use that too but still the problem persists. Adobe should look into it on priority, it's affecting the productivity of artists to setup the workspace everytime before working.

For at least the last 3 Premiere updates, the function of loading saved workspaces isn't working right. Every. Single. Time. I open the application, I still need to manually reconfigure how the windows are laid out. The program remembers 90% of the workspace layout, but always fails to load all the windows correctly. I've tried re-saving it to a new workspace, multiple times, and it NEVER makes a difference.

This is unacceptable perfomance on your part, Adobe. What's the point of charging us a reoccuring fee for using your software when you repeatedly fail to address your shortcomings like this? Hopefully now that your team has finished the arduous work of rounding off all the visible corners in the ui, and toning everything down to a monochrome look for your interface, you'll have the staff freed up to fix something your customer's ACTUALLY care about.

Wow, that's bad.

I've got nine custom workspaces, and the worst thing I ever get is that every second or third launch, one project jumps from the panel group of Productions/Projects on the second monitor to the lower left quadrant of the main Premiere UI window. Annoying but not 'huge'.

So what specifically is moving on yours?

I'm all PC, I've got nine custom spaces, and never have any issues with saving them.

Although an annoyance is that the Project panel can at times open in the left lower panel group of the main Premiere UI window, not where it's "supposed" to be. That one is well known and very annoying but that the hay. "We" all just drag it back and keep going.

The kind of behavior you are having indicates that Premiere is not being allowed to save the data to drive. So it's not 'there' for Premiere to see next time it launches.

I would check file permissions for that. Which can be a problem. For me, when my current main desktop was spanking new, OneDrive decided to take over all User folders, and copied anything posted in one to its own set of them ... and would not allow Adobe apps write permissions.

So I couldn't use my custom spaces, or save any user changes to presets or anything. Until I finally figured out how to blast OneDrive off that computer. It has never done that on any of our other rigs or my laptops. But ... that rig, it sure did. Three days of Hades, getting nothing done by fighting with OneDrive.

Of course, that was after I spent a week trying to figure out what the hay was going on, finally tumbling to OneDrive as the culprit.

Your mileage will vary, of course.

You cannot change and save one of the 'built-in' workspaces until you rename it.

So did you rename that workspace from the 'original' name?

Yes, I know that and I have done too. It's happening for other people too.

Try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.
