I second Marek.

If quality loss is not an issue then setup a 4K timeline.

Dear Friends,

I appreciate your advice very much.

would it be better to have 4K timeline and use 4K settings for all?

There is no straight forward answer. You are using 3 different sources.

Might want to do some testing upfront and see how things look.

Since some of your content is 4K but also 1080p HD, I'd go for 1080p. You can easily downscale your 4K content to 1080p but upscaling your 1080p content to 4K will result in loss of quality.

Always use the "weakest part of the chain", in this case lowest resolution for your sequence

Thank you Marek, I appreciate your advice very much.

same as above:

I've forgotten to mention a crucial info.
-About 80 % of the clips are 4K

Thank you in advance

In this case, you can set up your sequence to be 4K and output as 1080p for now and later output as 4K.

Option 1 is not a good choice as other cameras are HD.

Option 2 is the most obvious choice.

1. trial and error.

2. trial and error.

3. none.

4. Upscaling HD to UDH results in image quality loss.

Thank you Ann I apreciate your advice very much

I've forgotten to mention a crucial info:

-About 80 % of the clips are 4K and I was thinking that other 20 % would be OK since it is going to be a documentary ie: image quality could be overlooked

-And I was thinking that, as I mentioned earlier that I was going to have 1080p output first and 4K output later on when I have access to a powerful PC and if I set it to 4K in the first place then I don't have to make any changes in the timeline

Would you change your suggestions/answers for my 5 questions,
considering my 2 additional points I missed/not highlighted enough.

Thank you in advance
