XAVC Long QFHD - What's best format & codec to transcode to?

I have XAVC Long QFHD footage (3840 x 2160) 23.976 fps progressive/  100mbs  pixel aspect 1.0     My brand new MacBook Pro Laptop is having trouble editing.   Even trying to create proxies, which I have, is taxing my laptop.

My plan B is to start over and transcode.  What codec and format do you recommend?   I realize I need to purchase a Mac Pro tower but I cannot do that right now.  Thanks to anyone who can figure this out.

    AndreaO,

This format is supported in Premiere Pro CC 2018 (12.1.2) and later. Please update if you have not already. Once you have updated, I recommend transcoding to ProRes or ProRes LT. Please try that.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I have the same question. I shot in Sony XAVC QFHD 4K. When I imported it, Premiere changed the sequence pre-set, but it came out oversaturated, and color was distorted. I'm using a new iMac 24" with the M1 chip. The video looked fine in the camera and also on my older MacBook Pro which was surprising. Any ideas?
