    No issues yet.

I'm prepping for an upcoming shoot, renting a SONY FS5 for the first time and considering XVAC 4K Codec and since I own just the MacBook Pro Laptop for editing I'm looking for real world experience, comments and suggestions on how this codec will preform in Adobe Premiere Pro CC2017.

I'll take delivery of the camera just a day before I hit the road for a week long road trip, so not much time for testing. Any thoughts or experience with a like set up is appreciated. I've searched the web for a XVAC 4K clip and find nothing.

Also considering shooting interviews and product shots in 4K XVAC while shooting other footage in 1920x1080 and editing in a 1920x1080 timeline. The 4K footage will be scaled down and sized to simulate camera moves, cuts to CU, etc. So does this all sound doable with my Laptop specs and Adobe Premiere Pro CC2017?

    Thank you,

I can tell exactly how its going with f5 material on a brand new fully specced specced out 15" Macbook Pro. Not good.

In short, playback of the fs7 and f5 4k material I've got (from different cameramen) is choppy, fans go crazy.

My 2012 iMac performs way better. Using same media off same drives.

My suspicions are it is a Premiere problem. Rather than computer. Only because footage is happy playing back in something like VLC.

But in premiere. Nope. Hopeless. But I don't know. If its a MacBook Pro issue. It will be going back to shop. And it will be the final Mac I ever buy. If it can't edit 4k whats the point.

I came here to see if anyone else is having issues. I'll right this up in a new post when I get the chance. Have posted over at creative cow too.
