Yet another can't edit open captions thread

Argh, driving me bananas...

Sifted through all the threads here. I have an .srt file in my libary, tells me it's open captions. I make the edits to the text, change the type style, shows up beautifully in the preview window in captions panel. Yet does not change on my timeline. 

Now when I create a new item as open captions, that does work on my timeline.

So guessing it has to do with the file settings in my .srt file? I went to modfiy it, and dropdowns are greyed out telling me it's open captions. 

Looking for that 'accept caption changes on timeline' button.
