Hi, After the latest update which happened this morning 3/20, playback is sluggish. I get the beachball spinning forever soon after launching the application and starting to play a clip in the sequence. And I'm quickly stuck and need to force quit. Help!

@mireillem20537086 are you on macOS or Windows? Could you try updating to the latest beta version in Creative Cloud and see if you still have it happening? If so then I can help you with next steps to figure out what's causing it.

Thank you Matt. I've updated the beta app to the latest version, and tried opening my project several times throughout the day. The project opens, then I'm asked to relink some media, then the app stops responding. I wait awhile then force quit. When I revert back to Premiere pro 23, I'm asked to relin media but the app doesn't stall. I didn't run into this problem until the last 2-3 updates of the beta version. I'm on an iMac 208, 32GB, MacOs Ventura.

@mireillem20537086 Thank you for that additional information. If the main problem is Premiere Pro stopping responding (sometimes called a hang), there is an easy way to get more information from a Mac. Could you follow these steps to generate a text file called a sample, and then attach it here, or DM it to me?

Steps:

  1. Get Premiere Pro to become unresponsive, like when you get to the relink stage
  2. Open Activity Monitor, which is a Mac application found in /Applications/Utilities
  3. Locate Premiere Pro in the list of processes, and double click it to open the window with more information
  4. Click "Sample" to generate a sample (make sure Premiere Pro is not responding when you click Sample)
  5. After a few seconds, you'll have a new window with a bunch of text in it. Click Save, and name it with a little bit of a description of what you were doing, for example "sample during hang after relink dialog box appeared".
  6. Attach here or send to me in DM and I can take a look at what is causing Premiere Pro to not respond.

Thanks!
