Highlights are over exposed after export

Question

My dog has a black and white face, after editing and export the whites are blown out while being played on Quicktime but look fine on Premier Pro. Any suggestions?

Premiere Pro was designed for use with complete Rec.709 video standards. The Mac OS uses ColorSync to handle color management, and that utility does not apply full Rec.709 standards. Specifically, it does not a appy the second required transform, for the display, nor does it apply the 2.4 gamma considered a normal part of the Rec.709 standard.

The ColorSync utility applies approximately a 1.96 gamma, a unique figure.

While working video media in Premiere Pro on a Mac, use the preference option "display color management" which causes PrPro to look at the monitor ICC profile and remap the image within PrPro to appropriately display following the full Rec.709 standards.

However, outside of PrPro, well ... it doesn't control the OS or color managment. So you are at the mercy of the ColorSync utility.

Yea, it's a mess. Drives my colorist friends nuts, and most of them are Mac people.
