Is there a way to capture a grade and a look that can be used on a completely different project/timeline with the new color mode? (We know them previously as LUTs) is there a LUT equivalent? My issue is we will shoot various pieces of content with the same setup and lighting and edit them separately. How can I copy that grade onto a new timeline/project or clips on a new timeline or clip outside of the one is was created on?

Please try the various Copy Paste context menu options available at Operation level, Bucket Level and in clipgrid context menu Clipgrid.
You can copy a clip from clipgrid and it copy all color grading applied(Adjustments/Styles/LUTs) on clip and it can be pasted on other clip in same Sequence or across Sequence/across Project

Thank you! I actually was messing around yesterday and discovered I can use the “Productions” and move and host the projects there, and then I can copy the “Color Mode” effects over that way. I still have to navigate to the sequence, open it on the timeline, and then navigate to “Color” mode to paste the corrections and grades at the “Clip” level first, or it will freeze or crash if I try a selected group.

The only major downside to this method is that “Productions” forces you to make a copy of the “Project” to import it; you can’t bring in and work on the original project files. Productions will also have to go through a long validation of the files associated with that project. Even if multiple projects may utilize the same files, they are still validated/verified at the copied project level.

I’m naturally impatient … and after talking with the upper staffers involved at NAB, and having been in the private beta for months, I’m wanting the full control panel support to be available from Tangent and others … and of course for the full creation of a dense grade to be able to use in other projects and such.

It’s coming but not all the pieces are in place yet.

The way they decided to design the grading tools is that the “Clip Adjustment” is always an operator only for grading a clip. While it's general layout can be mimicked with separate modules in a Style operator, the zones cannot be brought up in the Style variant.

The bad design decision imo is that currently only Style operators can be saved as presets and Clip Adjustment operators and LUT operators not. You can also not save an entire grading chain of clip/style/LUTs/sequence level grades into a single preset.

So the answer is, yes.. partially. You can make looks with Style and save them to use anywhere but nothing else.

I hope Adobe will loosen these limitations because it shouldn’t be the company that decides what a good or bad workflow is. They need to provide solid tools but leave a fair amount of freedom to the artists so they can shape their own approaches and workflows.

I agree. They should not be the ones deciding which hands are tied. There are definitely Pro’s to Color mode but I am sure encountering a decent amount of Cons with it.

It’s still in early public beta development!

And things like full control panel support and the automated selection and matching tools of Lumetri and many other things are in development but not yet release

This is not the final ‘tool’ yet, not even close.
