Moving File From "Media Browser" Window into Timeline Automatically Switches Window to "Project"

I am on the beta version of Premiere Pro 23.4.0 Build 48, and I've noticed a slight change that I don't particularly like. For me personally, I like to import a lot of music from a singular folder using the Media Browser window for my videos. However, within this beta build, it automatically switches to the Project window each time I drag-n-drop a file into the timeline/sequence. This can become tedious when wanting to import multiple files.

My question would be: How may I stop this from happening and what setting can I find to go back to the old way?

Yes, just noticed this and like you I keep media in different panels / bins and have no need for it to automatically switch back to the panel with my edits in each time I drop a clip into my timeline, I don't see the use of this at all. Super Annoying. Argh!!

Argh, I have this issue too and I hate it. I really hope someone figures out a solution.

Also, let me just add, it happens if I drag a clip to the timeline directly from the Media Brower tab or if I open a clip in the source monitor, select in/out, and drag the clip to my timeline.

Hi,

I sadly have to remove the correct answer. This method of moving the Media Browser or Project windows into their own separate panels simply doesn't work. Even when saving it as a workspace over and over again, it will either move one or the other back together.

Seems to be a deeper issue than just the workspace.

I am on 23.3.0 and I'm experiencing the same thing. It never used to do this and I've been using my current layout for at least 3 years now, and my workflow has been the same the entire time. It's very annoying and there really is no reason for it to switch panels like this. I suppose I could do what the other reply said and create a different panel, but I like my current layout.

I've never imported that way. I thought at first you meant importing from Media Browser, which does switch to the Project Panel after each import.

But I see what you mean. Drag and drop from Media Browser to timeline sequence: imports to project panel (and so switches to it) and then ends with focus on the timeline.

A workaround is to create a custom workspace with the Media Browser in its own panel group (or some group other than the one with the project panel).

Yes, that is what I mean. Before going to Beta personally, it never did that. Maybe I had changed a setting somewhere at some point.

I guess you are right in that I can move it to a different panel. Thanks for the suggestion.
