Pretty sure I watched an Adobe video guide to Color Mode that said Lumetri will still be there, but advised against using it and embracing CM instead… Has that situation changed since the video was made?

@Johnny5E76 it’s hard to say for sure without knowing exactly what video you mean, but there are a couple things they could have meant:

    1. While Color Mode is in Beta, the Lumetri panel will continue to exist in the main release version of Premiere. We won’t remove that until Color Mode leave beta and goes to release.
    2. Even in Color Mode, there are basic color controls out in Edit mode in the Properties panel, that look a bit like Lumetri used to. You can see my screenshot in this thread. It’s possible they were referring to that.
    3. Lumetri as an applied effect will still exist and work in Premiere once Color Mode is released. This is to maintain compatibility with older projects opened in the newer version of Premiere. What will be missing is the Lumetri panel interface, but the effect will still be visible (and editable, though a little clumsily) in the Effects Control Panel.

speed is my main concern. Not every project need color mode especially for things like news and journalism. I don’t need to GRADE every clips whenI work on news packages just some basic CC and the new properties panel is limiting in that regard. Also the new Pop-up/ HUD scopes are terrible. please allow us to select which scopes we want and how to arrange them in a separate window so we can scan the entire programm as we watch it n=down and NOT one clip at a time if we click in it.

@roberts2771643 Speed of grading for editors is our concern as well. What about the Properties panel is limiting to basic corrections you need to do? Is there a tool/slider you want to see there that’s not?

You have full control over where the pop-up HUDs appear in color mode, including turning them off entirely. Click the wrench icon on the right side of the color controls panel and choose “Color Heads Up Display options”.

Color mode (and Edit Mode) have a re-done scopes panel called Video Scopes. You can find it in Window > Video Scopes. You can always put these wherever you want just like any panel and choose which of the various scopes you see.

Yes. Vibrance, whites and highlights would all be good to have access to.

    (moved to Beta forum)

@Laurie31362457mrjd Lumetri as an effect and panel is going away – it’s not possible to make all the controls from Lumetri compatible with the new color system.

That said, you’re right that sometimes going all the way to Color Mode for a small tweak on one clip would be a burden. As part of Color Mode, we’re adding the basic adjustments as sliders (similar to Lumetri) to the Properties panel in Edit Mode. So you’ll be able to do quick adjustments on things like Exposure, Contrast, Temp/Tint, and Saturation. Anything you change there will also reflect in Color Mode if later you go there to do a more detailed grading pass.

Here’s what that looks like in the Properties panel in Edit Mode:
