Program freezes when making simple video adjustments on the timeline.

Program freezes making the simplest video adjustments on the timeline - both with graphic files and video .mov files when you grab and slide fwd or bkwd on the timeline. I've had to restart - literally 2 dozen times for a minute long video. There has got to be a better way or program out there that actually works.

I'm back. Took a whole 6 minutes. Dropped one shot on the timeline. Decided to move it to beginning of sound bite. And bam. Froze again. This is a bunch of nonsense. Please fix it.
