Stuttering playback in Rush

Just started using Rush.  All video files, regardless of source, stutter wildly in editing playback, making it impossible to actually edit.  Exported video plays fine (except the edit points are goofy because I can't see exactly what I am editing.) I am using a new HP laptop running Windows 10.

Same files play fine in FinalCut Pro on an old Mac and in Windows Movie Editor on a laptop running Windows 7.  Any input appreciated.

I found the solution!!!!! You have to turn off hardware acceleration. On computer Edit>Preferences> then uncheck the box that says "Enable hardware acceleration coding and decoding" Not sure how to fix it on the phone, but I hope this helps

Still having these issues 6 years later. On my mac, the old instructions for turning off hardware accelerator do not seem to apply anymore. I've tried toggling those two checkboxes, clearing cache, restarting my device. Tried everything here and it's become quite a time-suck for me during edits and am very close to contemplating a different product.

A quick note for folks having laggy/jittery playback issues - two things to check:

1) Check your playback information in your Preferences:

Try toggling the bottom two checkboxes and then restarting Rush to see if your system prefers the alternate options.

2. Try working with H.264 files instead of H.265:

Hope this helps!

I am having this same problem! Would greatly appreciate any help. My video is very jittery but it is normal if I play it outside of Premiere Rush.

Yeah, I'm having this problem as well, and nothing helps. Too bad, I was hoping to try Rush. I can see now why it's been added into the lowest grade subscription: it is just garbage.

I'm also having this issue. Doesn't seem like there are any actual fixes. Kind of ridiculous that an issue first raised in 2018 is still happening with regularity.

im getting the same issue. I'm using a M1 Ipad Pro 11inch 512gb (8gb ram). Its brand new so i have only used about 10gb of storage. my 4k footage from my ozmo pocket v2 is playing back fine but as soon as i add any transition it becomes a mess. lagging from transition to transition. I have the creative suit already so its not a loss but its a bummer for sure. Looks like im gonna have to find a better app for vidio editing on the ipad.  Side note: i cant see anywhere to change the playback quality?

I have this same problem literally just making a slideshow of photos I found on the internet. The pan/zoom is shaky no matter what I do, I don't have the 3 dots option for low quality preview, and it stays shaky on export. What the heck is wrong with this program and why can you not fix this in the most basic video editing software known to man. Also why can't I change the position of a text box, or delete an extra text box that I don't want. Absolutely ridiculous, never using it again. They're gonna knock points off my assignment because of this.

Seems clear to me - convert screen recordings to m4p prior to inport. works a lit better! FYI - OSX screen recordings are 60fps

Yep, same issue. Rush is garbage at playback. Stuttering, jittery and just bad.

I have 32GB RAM, i7 and 1080Ti. All footage works fine in other video editing packages.

And it isn't consistent. Sometimes it will work fine for 10 mins. Then stutter about like a moron until I just let it catch up for 3 mins or so.

I have playback at low, footage is 1080p. Doesn't really matter where the files are from, screencaps, game recordings, my GoPro, iPhone, Android...

This is meant to be a simple video editor. The terrible performance makes it next to useless.

I'd upgrade to Premiere, or try something else.
