Character to Room Dimensions

Hello I wonder does it matter what default size of my House project for a character I create? I would like to know what are industry standarts for a character dimentions? I have already modeled character in maya and now I am looking forward to build a house for it to be placed in, but I worry that I won't be able to modify dimentions later on in a project. The worry comes from that I am not sure how to scale rigged character. All in all my question is all over the place but the main issue is to be able to size character to a room/house correctly, thanks
