How to Post a Problem or Ask for Help

There is a small team of engineers creating Stager. There is an even smaller number of experienced users who try to check in regularly and help out with questions. When you post a question or ask help with a problem, keep in mind that unless you give us enough information there probably isn't much we can do. Whenever possible, then, your post should include:

  • Your platform and which OS version
  • The version of Stager you are using
  • For problems with objects, where the object came from or how it was created.
  • For problems with materials or lights, where they came from and how they were created.
  • Screenshot(s) of the problem.
  • As much detail as you can about the steps you took before the problem struck.
  • Anything you've already tried as a remedy.

A post that says, in effect, "[X] didn't work" is a comment, not a question. Without more detail it is unlikely to receive a useful reply (or any reply). We pretty much ignore comments because they don't go anywhere.

Anytime you collide with a serious problem, like a freeze or crash or corrupted file, first report the problem directly to substance3d-bugs@adobe.com along with your Stager log files and the problem file(s). The engineering team will need those in order to track down the source of the problem for a permanent fix.

Once that's done, post your question here following the guidelines above. Thanks!
