New Stager Release!

May continues to bring good things for the Substance 3D ecosystem. After last week’s major new release of Substance 3D Painter, we’ve just released the latest versions of Substance 3D Sampler and Substance 3D Stager!

In Stager, we’re highlighting Generative Background (AI), which leverages the power of Adobe Firefly. A simple text prompt allows you to generate a background scene, into which you can place your 3D objects as needed. Stager will then match lighting and perspective as needed. The feature provides a way to explore concepts quickly, in order to communicate design intent simply and effectively.

Substance 3D Sampler now includes a range of features that are also powered by Adobe Firefly. First up is Text to Pattern (AI). Type in a text prompt for a pattern, and Sampler will generate four tileable patterns that can be used to form the basis of a new material. In all, this means fast and effortless creation of patterned materials.

Another new feature in Sampler: Image to Texture (AI). You can now use a photo or image as a reference to generate tileable textures, allowing you to iterate quickly, with more control over final results. These textures can then be used as materials in Sampler.

This release of Sampler also includes Text to Texture (AI), which we debuted in March. Type in a text prompt and generate a selection of photorealistic textures. That is, you can work faster, with more freedom for creative iteration.

For more information, you can take a look at our Text to Pattern tutorial, our Image to Texture tutorial, and our Stager tutorial. Have fun creating!

You guys should take a look at compatibility and performance instead.
Stager is Electron-based, which is related to the Chromium IPC layers, it's heavy on the GPU + IPC dependencies...
Super unreliable, and even using the latest NVIDIA drivers does not work.
Honestly unacceptable for a commercial-grade app.

This is great!
hope you guys also fixed the conflict with the 50 series and the new drivers, where the app does not even start.

Hi Paul,

more than any AI improvement, I would appreciate it if Stager finally runs reasonably on the Mac.

Even with the best Mac, working with Stager is tedious, crash-prone, and only possible within narrow limits.

It costs too much money for that.

Has the new update also worked on the stability and above all on the memory management?

Best regards,

Volker

Hi @Volker Lannert !  This post is a bit old, the update announcement was from a year ago in May, 2024.  Adobe is committed to building high quality applications on the latest hardware, but Stager and Dimension are built on an older foundation.  We're working internally on more modernized 3D platforms but I don't have any updates I can share in terms of performance or platform compatibility or Stager or Dimension today.  We'll announce more when we can!

Heyhey,

Thank you for your response. I wanted to express my continued disappointment that, even now, key 3D applications like Stager and Dimension still aren't fully optimized for Apple Silicon, particularly the M1 chips. These applications are integral to many workflows, and the lack of optimization significantly hampers productivity, especially given the premium price point.

I genuinely hope that Adobe prioritizes performance improvements and native support for Apple Silicon in the near future. It's crucial for creative professionals who rely on these tools daily.

Looking forward to hearing more updates soon.

Best regards,

Yannick
