Painter to Stager, where do the textures go and what preset?

When you use the "Send to Stager" button in Substance Painter and an object goes over with its generated textures, where are those textures saved? I'm trying to find a way to update them without having to send the model to Stager again and again every time I edit a material (btw, a texture refresh feature and better integration with Painter need to be top of the list of future new Stager features), but I don't know where they are being saved upon export.

Also, can someone explain a little about what preset or settings are used when textures are created and sent to Stager this way? If you have some of the more advanced channels active, like translucency, SSS, or top coat settings in a smart material for example, are they properly calculated and automatically applied to the proper channels in Stager?

Thank you very much in advance for any information.

There is some workaround how to update textures without :Sending To Stager" again. Please review video. This isn;t optimal way but it works. Hope this can help. And you will be able to work with textures as they are saved on your any directory.

I have attached 2 screenshot.

1.Object has been created in Painter and send to Stager. You can see material in Product Material Panel in Stager,

2. The color of material has been updated in Painer and resend into Stager, The new material has been loaded into Stager Material Panel.

But you will get 2 object in Stager, (that not perfect.)

Thank you very much, but I was actually asking where the individual JPGs/PNGs are saved to when you export to Stager using the "Send to Stager" menu item. I know that you can export using a Stager preset and designate a folder at export time, but I don't know where they are going when you do it quickly using that method.

Hello @SnowSultan,

That's an interesting topic. The textures are direcly stored in the .SSG file, not on your disk. This means that you unfortunately won't be able to save the new maps on top of the previous ones.

We are aware that the current state of the "Send to" option is a bit annoying when used multiple times (trust me, it bothers me too), but there are discussions on the subject.

For the more advanced channels you mentioned, as long as those channels are available in Stager, this won't be an issue.

Best regards,
