Question

Render of Background image is distorted

I've been trying  a number of things to get my render to match what I see in the design window with little success.  My background image gets stretched, usually horizontally, with the addition of a grey border (see attached screenshots. My specific goal is to add some 3D text with a glass material to a high resolution image.

I've tried using the match image feature, setting the output resolution of the camera output to match the original resolution of the image, turning on and off the override camera size in the render settings and using different background images.

One screen shot is of the design mode and the other is the output of that screen after rendering.

I'm guessing this is easy to do but I just can't seem to get it.  Thanks for any help.  George

Hi Marco, did you solve this issue? I am having just the same problem but I don't know how to fix it. Thanks.

Hello George, Thank you for contact the Adobe Support community. I have read your message and seen The screenshots. I can see That the grid foes over the canvas size and the background. These might be creating some extra space that is showing in the render mode. I would suggest

1 erasing the camera.

2 create a new camera.

3 simply drag and drop the photo that you want to use to the empty space in the back of the scene.

4 Make sure that the grid of the scene does not go over the canvas/image background.

5 If the problem persists, please send the Log finded in Help>Get logs...

Best,

Marco.

I started with a new file (did not save all my previous attempts) and tried your suggestion; that procedure gave me the same distortion.  I am curious as to to why the alignment grid might interfere with the rendering of the background image.
Log file is attached.
Thanks for your help with this vexing problem.
