2026.3.13 Problem with Content Filter + Condition Expression in HTML5 Merged Help

Hi All,

in Robohelp version 2026.3.13, some things seem to be no longer working correctly with Content Filters, Condition Expressions and Merged Help.
I tested with the sample project Compass Travel, output preset "Compass Travel Red Green Skin".
Expectation as defined on Peter's site and as it worked before: active content filter shows either topics that are untagged or have the respective condition tag applied.

1. Display of topics without condition tag
- The topic "Exploring Ancient Maya of Honduras" has no condition tag
- it is stored in the folder "Leisure Travel" which has the tag "leisure" assigned in the TOC
- all topics in the folder "Human Resources" do not have a condition tag and also the folder does not have a condition tag assigned in the TOC
--> with active filter "Corporate", the folder "Leisure Travel" is not displayed and thus also not the topic "Exploring Ancient Maya of Honduras" --> incorrect behavior, the untagged topic should still be displayed.
--> the topic can be found via the search --> correct behavior
--> the folder "Human Resources" including all topics is displayed --> correct behavior
--> with active filter "Leisure", the folder "Leisure Travel" is displayed and also the topic "Exploring Ancient Maya of Honduras" in it (correct)

2. Problem with folder icons in combination with merged help
- to reproduce this problem, I created a parent project. I imported all condition tags and also created the same content filter as in the sample
- the above named problem also exists here
- when a filter is active, the +/- indicator of folders is no longer shown for folders with a tag in the TOC. It is only shown for folders without a tag (i.e. Human Resources).

I am wondering if especially the first issue has something to do with the “switched” and/or meaning of expressions, which was then “corrected” again …?

Best regards

Karin

Chatting to @Karin Albrecht 2 offline, she mentioned that her tagging worked in 2022.4. I found in https://helpx.adobe.com/robohelp/kb/fixed-issues.html that 2026.01 fixed a bug in Dynamic Content Filtering and I strongly suspect that is behind the problem here.

The bug that was fixed is internal so cannot be viewed. I have suggested the next step is Adobe Support for details of the bug. Also the setup is a merged project and there are special steps in a merge for filtering. They are covered on my site.

Using the TOC to apply tags, I applied Tag A to the Folder One section and Tag B to the Folder Two Section.

That works perfectly when I select filters A and/or B.

Then I added Tag B to a topic in Folder One. When I select B in the filters, that topic now shows. That is correct because the user has chosen to see anything with B applied.

To exclude anything with both A and B applied, you need to write a Condition Expression and drag that into the filter options.

Re applying tags to Content Folders, I will take that up with Adobe as I thought that was an option. Perhaps it has been removed.

Does this clarify things for both of you? @Karin Albrecht 2 @Rosee321

Whilst you cannot select the folder in Contents to apply a tag to all topics within, you can multi-select the topics in a Contents folder and then apply a tag to all selected topics in the dialog that will appear with a right click.

This looks like a bug in Adobe RoboHelp 2026.3.13 where content filters hide topics if their parent folder has a tag, even if the topic itself has no tag.

As a workaround, try removing the condition tag from the folder or adding the same tag directly to the topic until Adobe fixes it.

@Rosee321 I don’t think this is a bug. See my reply to @Karin Albrecht 2

Compass Travel is a complex project when it comes to condition tags and expressions.

You are better off testing with the About RoboHelp sample project and the merged help download on my site.

That said, the Compass Travel project was not changed in any way during the expression problem and merged help was not changed.

I tested with Compass as it seemed to fit my own project best and I am having the same issues with my project. But I will take a look at About RoboHelp and see what happens there.

Better still, create a very simple project to just show the tag issues.
