Folks,I have a very old Robohelp project (created in the 1990s I think- maybe early naughties) which I have updated to 2026 version; I can compile it to a single help file with a contents tab and search tab. However, the index is proving to be a problem. The old project has a massive index file which I can open in a text editor (.hhk file) and I can see it is in HTML format. If I stumble around, not really understanding what I am doing and put some links in to create an index in RH2026 it creates an output file as an idx file which looks like it is XML and a totally different format. I cannot see where the information that creates that idx file in RH2026 lives.  I would have hoped that you could take that hhk file from the old Robohelp project and use it to create the index for the RH2026, but having spent days trying this I cannot make it work. All the very old web pages are practically the same, just a few tweaks to bring them up to modern HTML standard, but all the human readable te

I recently got a new laptop at work and had to install RoboHelp again on this new laptop. Since that time, the Search capabilities in my Microsoft HTML Help output is not working. When I try to search within the application that is running my created .CHM output file I get No Topics Found. We adjusted the Window Settings output to have Locate selected but that did not resolve the issue. I feel like something is missing on my new laptop but for the life of me I can't think of it. Just updated to v26 .03.13 and still not working. Thanks in advance for suggestions/help.

New user working with Review.  I’ve added an Active review.  Added a topic but after sending a link, neither myself or users can open any topics included in the review.  Upon further review, it will not open the review topic within the project either.  

Hello, I would like to display a frameless output in a Blazor page. Whether I call this page in an iFrame or as an Oblect, links from the content area do not work properly. If I link to another topic within a topic, it is opened, but the navigation area is no longer displayed. What can I change here?

Photoshop has an update.  It stalls at 48% done.  It I try to cancel it does not cancel no matter how long i let it run.

I’ve imported several FrameMaker documents to my RoboHelp 2022 project, but the Index tab is empty. How do I get my FrameMaker index entries to import into RoboHelp? My index is large and I can’t recreate it manually. I upgraded from an older version of RoboHelp that had this feature, but I can’t find it in the new program or in the RoboHelp documentation. The contextI generate my online help (frameless output, EN/FR projects) through scripted, unattended command-line builds rather than launching them by hand from the RoboHelp UI. For a long time these builds were frustratingly unreliable: I had a failure rate of roughly 20%, with no genuinely detectable explanation. A compilation would sometimes throw an "Error" pop-up, hang, or simply abort, and there was no clear pattern — same project, same machine, different outcome.These were not just cosmetic false alarms: a real share of the runs genuinely froze and produced nothing usable. Hello,I'm getting the "ENOENT: no such file or directory, lstat 'C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\Temp\RHTMP\[folder name]\[doc name]' error when trying to generate a word output in RoboHelp 2026.03.13.  The issue seems to be isolated to a subset of topics within a larger help project. This subset was created with master pages (unlike the rest of the help project). I deleted the master pages. The output succeeds when I generate it with two given topics separately (one topic per generation attempt) but fails when I try to generate with both topics together. It fails at this point: merging HTML files. Here are the steps I've tried: clearing the RHTMP folder and restarting my computer, checking the topics for overlapping styles (inline plus CSS styles), changed out the style sheet for the default,  deleted this bit of code that is a relic of the master page: <meta name="template" />. It seems that with every project I try to update from RH2017 to RH2022, a new problem surfaces. Now, it’s a font-color issue: all the copy text in my PDF is blue instead of black. This hasn’t happened with any of the other half-dozen (at least) projects I’ve completed, and I haven’t done anything differently regarding font color.Any ideas?Thank you,Lon

I tried to replace our logo on the Front Cover page of a project’s PDF; however, although I was able to place the new logo, when I deleted the old logo, I got this:...which give me this on the compiled PDF:Any ideas how I can remedy this?Thank you,Lon

We just started publishing our RH projects to Zendesk and most everything is working just fine, However, there have been a few topics that won’t publish and if I ask to just publish one of those topics, it fails. I get a pop up in the corner stating “File upload failed.View publishing log for details”  However, the publishing log is basically empty

It’s been a while and it’s nice to see some familiar faces still around.RH 2022+ using merged HTML5 output.BackgroundThe last several I moved over to a different role in our company. I was fortunate to be able to use some other tools Paligo, then MadCap Flare, etc. So, it’s been nice to expand my knowledge. I found there are things I really liked in Flare that weren’t in RoboHelp and things I really liked in RoboHelp 2017 and some things I didn’t like in either. But anyway… layoffs happened, and I got pushed back into my old role.Anyway, we just converted our RH 2017 content (merged HTML5 help system with parent and 15+ child helps) the last couple of weeks from RH 2017 to the latest RH...whatever it’s called now. The “Fixed issues” list for RoboHelp Update 2026.03 says:“Adding the same snippet to a topic more than once results in only a single instance being added, preventing multiple insertions of the same snippet. (Bug ID: 13499)”If that has been fixed, is it now possible to insert multiple instances of the same snippet in a topic?We were relying on that feature before updating to 2026.01 - and why shouldn’t we? Snippets are made for reusing the same content, be it in other topics or in the same topic.What’s the status of that in the last three RoboHelp versions?And if that was changed between 2022.0x and 2026.01, what happened to already existing multiples? Have they been deleted? Or is it just a new Authoring feature and existing content has not been touched?

I have recently upgraded a series of RH projects which use a Microsoft HTML Help (.CHM) output from the classic UI 2019 version to RH 2020.8.34. These have gone generally very smoothly, including a project translated into Japanese which renders perfectly if I first change to PC’s display language to Japanese. However, a project in Simplified Chinese is failing to generate the output correctly - although the TOC displays properly, the text in the topics is completely failing to render as Chinese characters (see image), even when I change the display language before generating.I’ve tried creating a fresh .CHM output but the result is the same. However, if I use the Frameless output option, the characters render perfectly. In the past I have had issues with the TOC (which is addressed in other questions in the forum) but never with the bulk of the content.The projects have a long history with multiple authors contributing over the years, so the formatting/fonts used may not be entirely co

I have tried and tried with RoboHelp. I moved to it after 10 years of MadCap Flare use looking for something new that was more actively maintained, I thought RoboHelp was the answer, but no.The app is brittle and full of bugs. The logic behind dynamic content filtering is completely broken and the Frameless output does not work with custom JavaScript, even if I include it as an asset in the skin because the order in which the content is loaded means the JS is looking for elements that don’t exist. I cannot get around this despite trying different approaches for months. Occasionally the “insert paragraph here” blue line gets rendered in actual output because RoboHelp edits the page source to render it in real time (wtf?).I have raised many bugs that have not been acknowledged.The “official” help is woeful and everyone just gets sent to Peter’s site - which is good - but shouldn’t be the official RoboHelp resource.I managed to put together some really useful scripts with the help of Clau

Has anyone been successful in creating WCAG (2.0, 2.1, or 2.2) compliant output using Robohelp?I’ve tried several iterations and I’ve found that at a basic level the output doesn’t seem to meet most standards. Using 2022.6.34. Forgive me on this question:Where do I edit the frameless header, specifically in the 1 and 2 illustrated in the image below? I want to disable it from going to the homepage and/or making it go to a particular topic in the TOC. Thank you SO MUCH! 

On a random machine, clicking CS help from any page opens a new window and the UI is opened again in a newly launched window instead of the Help doc. On debugging, it is found that the randomly generated UI installation ID of this machine has the string 'bc-' in it. Due to this, the code below, present in .htm files, opens an incorrect URL when the CS link is clicked.if (window.gbWhTopic){var strUrl = decodeURI(document.location.href);var bc = 0;var n = strUrl.toLowerCase().indexOf("bc-");if(n != -1){ document.location.replace(strUrl.substring(0, n)); bc = strUrl.substring(n+3); }The UI installation ID is 937ade1c-baad-4ae7-babc-c42fdd218d78We need find some way so that the var n = strUrl.toLowerCase().indexOf("bc-"); does not match the randomly generated installation ID. The installation ID is generated at the time of UI installation and cannot be changed.

I’ve gone into great detail to ensure that all fonts everywhere are coded for the correct color. Never had a situation like this before. No matter what I do, fonts are goofball. Like this: 

I deleted the assets folder on the author/contents page. All my pictures were removed that I added to the project. Is there a way to bring the folder back and add all my pictures back to where they should be? Restore the folder?
