Question

Actual help topic size much smaller than an RH preview

I'd like to be able to trust that the preview of my help project accurately renders how it will look the end user when they display a topic from our web app. However, it renders significantly smaller - so small as to be unacceptable. I don't understand why the preview is not reliable re the issue of render size.

The preview cannot be 100% accurate as all browsers have their own CSS that can make small differences. It should only be used as a guide.

The Preview has never 100% reflected how the output is going to appear, so don't rely on that. I don't see much difference in your screenshots (please don't put them in as attachments - it's a pain to look at them - use the picture icon to stick them in the post) but it appears that you may have different zoom levels on them by your browser settings.

I've got two renderings on tabs in the same browser. I can switch between
them and see the difference. So it's not different global browser zoom
settings - it's that the topic renders smaller in actual use than it does
in RH preview. That means one cannot rely on a preview to demonstrate
actual size.

Yup - don't rely on the Preview. No big deal; concentrate on the output. Are you checking to see if the right CSS settings are being applied? That could be the difference between the content inside RH and published.

BTW - what version of RH are you using? Is it the latest version & patch [RH2022 patch 2 as of July 2023]?
