Adding classic Robohelp output as a baggage folder in Robohelp 2019

Hi,

I have an output from calssic project (.XPJ) format.  I have another project from Robohelp 2019. Since upgrading .XPJ into Robohelp 2019 project had several issues, i was trying to copy the output of the old project into Assets folder of the Robohelp 2019 project and add a link it via text. While trying to do this Responsive HTML has failed to generate output. Is there any alternate method to add the .XPJ output as a baggage folder into Robohelp 2019 project.

Thank you.

When I say different versions I am meaning 2019 Classic and 2019 New UI. They are two different programs and the code in the topics is very different.

If you want to give someone the output from Classic you have to generate it from Classic. You simply cannot create a New UI project and link it to the Classic output.

It seems to me the issue is with updgrading. What is going wrong there?

In addition to what Peter and Jeff have said, I'm not sure you can add an output as baggage. And if you can, I'm not sure it would be wise.

If your output is hosted on a webserver, I would include links to the website the old output is hosted on, rather than try to add the output as baggage.

You cannot create merged help from different versions of RoboHelp.

Hi Peter, Thanks for clarification. Sorry, I did not mean 2 different versions, I meant merging .XPJ and .RHPJ projects.

We had moved on to new version of ROBO help 2019, due to upgradation issues from classic .XPJ project to .RHPJ of Robohelp 2019, we had to prepare the entire documentation from scratch in Robo help 2019 (.RHPJ project). Along with this new documentation, we would also like to provide the .XPJ project output to the user, so that if any information is missed in new documentation, user can still use the old documentation for reference. Robohelp 2019 is used to generate output from both .XPJ and .RHPJ projects.

Currently i am doing it maually, i will be creating a folder and a blank topic -> provide a link to it from .rhpj project> generate Resoponsive HTML output -> replace the blank topic with first page of the Old version output manually and copy all the files from older version into this folder. I need to check if links work properly or not, after building the pack with this folder.

In calssic Robohelp project (using Robohelp 2019), i used to keep the .RHPJ output in baggage folder and use to link it from the to main page of .XPJ output. During output generation Robohelp will genrate output and copy all the files from the old output which are in baggage folder automatically.

If there is a way to merge .XPJ and .RHPJ projects, then it would be great. Thank you for your time.

You would generate output from each of the projects separately I believe & then merge it. I don't work with merged projects at all, so check Peter's guide on this.

That sounds like you are doing merged projects - have a look at Peter Grainge's excellent site (grainge.org) on that topic with a sample project you can download and play with first.

What are you trying to accomplish? Bundling the output from 2 RH projects together? Or a merged project (parent/child)?

Thank you for your response. Old .XPJ has information pertaining to the older version of our product while the RH 2019 project has information about only updates, hence we would like to include the old .XPJ help along with new RH 2019 help.
