Question

Adobe PDF Creation Add-on 9 or More Functional Adobe Product

I have a user that is using RoboHelp 8 client and the PDF creation function within RoboHelp is greyed out. I tried reinstalling RoboHelp twice and enabling this feature at install, but I get the following message:

Adobe PDF Creation Add-on 9 or more functinoal Adobe product for Adobe PDF generation is already installed on your machine.

Anyone know how to enable PDF creation within RoboHelp.

Thank you.

Craig

It is not normally a problem if there is a valid Adobe PDF app on the machine. The installation is recognising one yet the print routine is not.

Has an Adobe PDF app been installed at any time? I am wondering if a trial version is lurking on the machine.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for getting back to me on this.

I checked with the user and she told me that neither Adobe Pro or Distiller

are eval copies. Here at the Bankruptcy Court we are pretty good about

purchasing licenses for everyone. Plus we image all machines, so I did not

think this would be the case.

In RoboHelp, creating a PDF is not part of the printing routine, but done

via Generate option (File/Generate/PDF).

This problem is also on my computer. I just got a brand new computer and

installed RoboHelp 8 on it. The PDF option is also greyed out.

On the first machine you are saying Acrobat 9 is installed and works with other apps but not with RoboHelp. You referred to the installation acknowledging there was a better version. However, you now mention the machines being imaged.

My concern here is that unless both apps were installed direct to the PC with Acrobat 9 being first, then it could have an impact.

You also say "In RoboHelp, creating a PDF is not part of the printing routine, but done via Generate option (File/Generate/PDF)."

Have you tried via the Print Layout? Is PDF disabled there? (The PDF button will of course be greyed unless the check box is ticked.)
