Question

Any Word on a Feature Update or New Release?

Just curious. It's been about a year and a half since an update with any notable features (2022.4) - and really, most updates since 2022.1 (March 2023) have been fairly insignificant. Feeling a bit long in the tooth (much as I find it capable for my needs).

I am actually waiting eagerly for an update, as I have some bugs and feature requests pending since months (e. g. AND-search for frameless or "Include all referenced topics" in PDF output no longer working). Would be nice if the bugs in the tracker would be taken care of at some time. I tried several times to get a feedback there, but unfortunately no reply 😞

Indeed. It appears that support for this software has been significantly reduced and the product is stagnating. There have been no new features for over two years, and bug fixes are infrequent and minimal. Additionally, the issue tracker shows no response to recent bug reports or feature requests, with no visible activity from their side. This suggests either that a major update is being worked on (as was the case around 2020, which seems unlikely), or that Adobe has effectively discontinued active support for this product.

The lack of communication is particularly discouraging, as it leaves users uncertain about the product’s future. It would be nice to know if they plan to improve and support RH, or it's time to move on to something else.

I can only give you the same answer as @George5E9B , what features are you wanting? Someone came to this forum recently saying they had given up on Flare for the same reasons you cite about RoboHelp.

My take is that for the level of documentation that RoboHelp is used, it's difficult to find much in the way of features. I would guess that is Flare's issue as well. RoboHelp and Flare are the two main products at this level so I'm wondering what else you are thinking about moving on to.

Adobe also has AEM Guides but they are for very large organisations.

What I can assure you is that bug fixes are being worked on and will continue to be.

This is not about specific missing features or individual bug fixes, but rather about Adobe’s overall approach to this product and its future. I’m simply sharing what I’ve been observing over the past couple of years. There is an obvious downward trend and, more importantly, virtually zero communication from Adobe’s side.

There are alternative solutions on the market (for example, the SaaS platforms like Document360) where new features (not just bug fixes) are released regularly. Of course, their pricing is on a completely different level compared to RH, so the comparison isn’t straightforward. Still, this contrast makes the current situation with RH more noticeable.

I genuinely hope that the future of RH is bright, but at the moment there are no visible signs pointing in that direction. I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who has similar concerns.

To be clear, the current state of RH is fine — it does its job and is generally quite stable. That doesn’t mean it couldn’t be better, much better. For example, it would be great to see improvements to skins, which haven’t been updated in a long time (or perhaps some entirely new ones). Authoring could also be enhanced, and some modern integrations like AI-powered search results, for instance, would be very welcome.

I’m not looking for help, Peter — just expressing my concerns.

Only Adobe can answer that. Even if I knew, I couldn't tell you.

Is there something you're looking for?

No - not really. As I said, I find it capable for my needs for the most part. Just seems like the red-headed step child of the family (and a lot more effort is being poured into Captivate). Granted - I suppose the ability to incorporate Captivate should really be seen as a feature extension, but I rarely have a need to use Captivate (more involved in online help directly than elearning content).
