Apostrophes Missing in Compiled Version but not in Word

We are having trouble with all of our projects. We are running RH7 with Word 2000 (and have tried Word 2003). In the actual Word document when we converted from RX5, anywhere there was an apostrophe, it took away the apostrophe and the letter following it so for example, It would take Don't Use and turns it into Donuse. The interesting part of this is that we can do a search and fix this in the Word document but when it is compiled, it is still wrong. We have removed the smart tags as was suggested but it is still happening. Can anyone give me some advice on this?

Try clearing both the check boxes ["Straight Quotes" with "Smart Quotes"] under Auto Format and ["Straight Quotes" with "Smart Quotes"] under Auto Format As You Type in the AutoCorrect Options dialog box ?

I had the same problem in RH7. I cleared these two check boxes too alongwith removing the smart tags, then used the "find and replace" tool to replace all the apostrophes with another one. Saved the document and compiled. It works.

Thank you! I had this exact same problem [RH7 on Word 2000] and this cleared it up.
