Assigning a "Publisher"

Using RoboHelp 8 in TCS2, I am creating a self-signed certificate to assign a Publisher to my AIRHelp file. However, it is not recognized; that is, the install dialog shows the Pubilsher as UNKNOWN.  This shows up in our Vista test machines, and is therefore unacceptable.  What am I missing here?

    Hi there

    I'm just guessing at this. Perhaps the "Unknown" will disappear if you elect to acquire a certificate? I'm not sure what the cost is for an actual signed certificate, but perhaps if you have concerns with appearing to be valid, it might warrant an investment in an official certificate.

    Rick,

    I have been poking around in the devloper documentation, and it looks like the self-signed certificate they mention is for test purposes only.  Nowhere in the RoboHelp documentation does it say this, but I suspect it is true here, too.  We are purchasing a Thawte certificate, because that was mentioned in the dev doc.

    Unless you have a certificate, the publisher will show as Unknown. That does not stop you installing from a technical point of view so it is not just for test purposes. If I were to send you an AIR file, it would install provided you are happy to install something from Unknown. The barrier is who you are sending the file to. If they are happy the file is from you and are willing to risk that it has not been tampered with, they can proceed. Some people will not do that. Only you can decide if that is an issue.
