Question

blocked content and webhelp

Hi

From searching the archives and reading Rick's write up on Active X content being blocked on IE (see both links below), I understand that webhelp needs to be on a server. Now I have what may be a very silly question:

How do companies deliver webhelp for their applications?

Our application is installed on the local drive and the webhelp folder is included there. When we click Help, we, of course, get the blocked content message on IE. We've tried calling the help to open within our application, but then the index and search do not work.

Is it best to move to a HTML Help output or is there another way to deliver webhelp?

Thank you
Nadine

Hi Nadine. There is no such thing as a silly question. It sounds like you should be looking at HTML Help output. It's a bit like taking a taking large tracker wheels and putting them on a Ford Focus. They are just not designed for the job.

Hi nine doors

Another possibility is to upgrade to RoboHelp version 6. This version has an ability for adding the Mark Of The Web (MOTW) to your WebHelp so that the ActiveX content isn't blocked and works without issue.

Perhaps download the trial version and test to see for sure?

Just a thought... Rick
