Hi there.

Is it possible to have Next and Previous links in a topic that automatically use the Browse Sequence settings?

If so, could someone tell me how as it would be a great help.

Many thanks,

Craig

    Hi Craig

Indeed it's possible! Basically you get the links if you create WebHelp using the "Traditional - No Skin" version of WebHelp.

What's that I hear you asking? You want the pretty skin AND you want the links too? (I figured you did)

So here is how you do it. You generate WebHelp two different times. Once with the skin and once without (so you get the Browse Sequence in topics). Then you copy the topics from the no skin WebHelp and replace the Skinned WebHelp topics with those. Now you end up with the best of both worlds. You get a skinned WebHelp system that has topics that present the Browse Sequence buttons.

    Cheers... Rick

    Hi Rick,

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm actually using the basic Microsoft HTML Help output as this is what our application has used in the past.

Is there anyway to do it with that?

    Thanks,

    Craig

    Hello again

I'm guessing that "basic Microsoft HTML Help output" means CHM files, right? In that case, about the only thing you can do is to manually edit each topic in RoboHelp and construct a link from the topic to the next in the sequence and the previous in the sequence.

I would also urge you to utilize the Wish Form and advise Adobe that you are developing CHM format you need this capability. Adobe needs to be aware that many folks are still using CHM format. (Link to the Wish Form is in my sig)

    Sorry... Rick
