Browser Back Button Doesn't Return to Previous Position on Page

Hi All,

My reviewers have picked up on behaviour which is understandably frustrating them. When navigating our help site (frameless output) hitting the back button in the browser always returns to the top of the previous topic. The expected behaviour is for the back button to return to the previous position on the last page, not the top. This is particularly annoying when the user has clicked a link in a long article, but then needs to return to that article at the same point. It's a lot of scrolling.

Has anyone noticed this, found it unhelpful, and implemented a solution?

I don't remember it being mentioned in the forums before.

Can you try it in one of the sample projects and see if the same problem occurs there? This will help determine if it's something specific to your project. The sample projects should be in your Documents\My Robohelp Projects folder. If they aren't there, take a copy from your RH installation folder (under Program Files). Don't try to open the project from the installation folder as there are Windows security features that prevent the project opening.

Hi Amebr,

Rookie error! I should have tried that before reaching out. It works perfectly as expected in one of the sample projects. (*sigh*) I wonder what I've done in my project? Dare I say it's the result of working with a project originally authored when Robohelp was sold by Macromedia. Multiple upgrades over 18 years have left gunk in the html.

Thank you for confirming it's a 'me thing' and not really a 'robo thing'.

I should add - this appears to be browser-agnostic. Confirmed in Edge and Brave on Windows. Edge is the browser on which my users will generally be seeing the site.
