Question

Can I use Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG) in RoboHelp 11 projects?

I need to import .SVGs into my RoboHelp 11 HTML5 project, but that file type doesn't seem to be supported. I tried pasting the appropriate HTML code into a topic, but the SVG graphic doesn't show. Am I missing something, or is there a work-around?

I imported the svg files as baggage files and then wrote the <img> tags by hand in the html-editor, seems to work fine for HTML5 output. Remember that Robohelp doesn't include the svg-files if they are not added to the project.

    Hi folks

    Simple Simon here.

First off, I totally agree with Erik in that you should file a Feature Request.

Secondly, I know that many folks aren't really all that keen on mucking with code. So here's one solution that involves minimal code muckage, (yep, muckage is a technical term. I just invented it!)

Add your SVG to Baggage where you want it.

Insert an image where you want your SVG to appear.

Click and drag the SVG from Baggage to the spot just beyond the image.

Double-click the SVG link and copy what appears in the Link to area. Then delete the link.

Click once on the image, then click the HTML tab.

Now just paste what you copied between the img tags.

    Cheers... Rick

Thanks both for the replies. I want to stick with SVGs, since that's what the app will use. The SVGs do show when I open the topic in a browser, which is how the user will see them.

But yeah, maybe a different editor is in order. I kinda like that "WYSIWYG" thing.

Since other Adobe products are capable of producing SVG and since it works in the browser, I might encourage you to submit a wish form so the development team is aware of a need.

Thank you for the suggestion, I just submitted a wish form. Illustrator supports SVGs, so it seems natural that RH should too!

SVG is not supported. You will have to use your graphics software to create a supported format.

Or abandon the RoboHelp editor and use a different HTML editor. I'm not sure about the venerable Dreamweaver, but I did a google search and found articles where folks were grumbling because Dreamweaver also had issues and didn't easily allow SVG.
