Can RoboHelp import a full set of existing html pages, complete with internal links?

I need to import a full set of html files in a folder hierarchy. Can Robohelp do that? All I can see is the ability to import single or multiple files. I need to be able to import an existing set of html documentation, complete with all the internal links. If possible, the original RST files could be imported instead

It has been suggested to me that this should work.

Copy the top level folder in your HTML structure and all the sub-folders into the Contents folder in RoboHelp using Windows Explorer.

It may take a little while for RoboHelp to read the files first time. See if that works and let us know please.

Glad to hear that worked.

Thanks, that worked! I imported our docs into Robhelp and re-generated. Looks messy 'cos of two lots of ToC but it worked

stripping out headers, footers and ToC would improve things - I have a list of things to get rid of.

Building the ToC was very quick, better than Flare

I don't think my site will help on this one. 🙂

RoboHelp can bulk import as well but it's limited to the files in a folder. When you select HTML Topic, you can select all the files in a given folder. Are you saying Flare can retain the structure?

Flare does import a folder and all subfolders in the hierarchy below it, and stores the imported files within the structure in the right folders

You can import various files as below.

The problem is that you need HTML Topic to convert the files to RoboHelp format and that is one at a time.

A search shows only two posts about RST files in the last fifteen years and they are not related to what you want to do.

Depending on how desperate you are, can you generate a Word document from whatever you are using? I am doubtful it would come in cleanly but any port in a storm, it could be worth a try. No matter how much clean up, it might get you what you want. The topics would be in one folder but could be restuctured in RoboHelp. I emphasise, I am doubtful but it's the only thing I can think of.

If no one else comes along with an idea, try Support. See https://helpx.adobe.com/contact/enterprise-support.other.html#robohelp for your Adobe Support options. The email link tcssup@adobe.com is recommended as it reaches a team dedicated to Technical Communication Suite products including RoboHelp.

Thanks Peter. I think I would have to get some help from our developers to convert the existing html files into RoboHelp html files, which I can just copy into a RoboHelp project. I'll have to experiment to see what happens to all the cross-references.

I'm evaluating tools at the moment, and I would have to take a similar approach with MadCap Flare (apart from the final step, Flare can import bulk HTML)
