Can't Get Images into RH8

I'm linking a Word 2007 document into RH8 to generate a WebHelp file. It generates the text, TOC,  and tables nicely, but no images come in (.gif and .jpg). Can't see them in the Design Editor, no sign of them in HTML editor, and they aren't generated in WebHelp.

I've tried different ways of adding the images into the Word doc - importing, cut/paste, within text frame, within a drawing canvas. No luck.

Any ideas?
